From an integration standpoint, you are able to use any barcode scanner that is compatible with your operating system. They function similar to your typical keyboard, except instead of typing data, the scanner will populate the information into a field. Barcode scanners save time by eliminating the need for manual data entry.
That being said, if your long term goal is to integrate with iOS, then we recommend using QR Codes, as they seem to work the best on curved surfaces. Other types of barcode scanners supported by iOS are the following: UPC-E, Code39, Code39Mod43, EAN-13, EAN-8, code93, Code128, PDF417, and QRCode.
