What's Fixed?
This version of the Android application massively improves the performance of Offline data syncing. A number of optimization areas were identified that have been addressed in this release, resulting in overall faster sync times when a user is preparing to go offline or work in Airplane mode.
On average, sync download times have been reduced by 50% for payloads of similar size (number of resources [Views/Forms marked for offline usage], number of records available in those Views, and number of Images/Documents on those offline records) and similar network conditions (Wifi/Cell signal strength).
In some cases download syncs have seen 70-80% improvements, depending on the overall size and complexity of the use case.
Note: Due to the complexity of these updates, users should be advised to re-sync before going offline after upgrading to 4.13.0 and not expect to work offline if the last time they synched was on the previous version of the application: 4.12.0
Do I Need to Do Anything?
No. Simply ensure that your users update to the latest version of the Android App (4.13.0) and they will begin to see the benefits of these improvements.
Remember: always follow best practices and permiss roles only the minimum viable number of resources for offline usage needed to support your use case. This can drastically reduce the amount of data that is downloaded to user's devices when syncing.
