Note: You must have Admin permissions to access the Table Builder and modify table settings. If you do not see the Admin icon, contact your TrackVia administrator.
This article explains how to use the Table Builder to add, remove, reorder, and configure fields in a TrackVia table. For information on the various ways to create new Tables, visit the How to Create Tables article.
Accessing the Table Builder
- Click on the Tables drop-down menu, find the table you want to modify and click the pencil icon next to its name. This opens the Table Builder.
Adding Fields
- In the Table Builder, locate the Available Fields section on the left side of the screen.
- Browse or search the available field types (e.g., Text, Number, Date, Checkbox, Drop Down).
- Click on a field type to add it to the table, or drag and drop a field type from the Available Fields section into the Included Fields section to the right.
- Once added, click on the field to configure its settings (name, required, unique, etc.).
Editing Field Settings
- Click on any existing field in the Table Builder to open its settings panel.
- Update the Field Name, toggle options such as Required or Unique, and configure any type-specific settings (e.g., dropdown choices, number formatting).
- Click outside the settings panel or press Enter to confirm your changes.
Reordering Fields
- Click and hold a field in the Table Builder.
- Drag the field to your desired position in the table.
- Release to drop it in place. The new order will be reflected across all views that use default field ordering.
Removing Fields
- In the Included Fields section, hover over the field you want to remove.
- Click the X to the right of the field name.
Warning: Deleting a field permanently removes all data stored in that field. This action cannot be undone.
Saving Your Changes
- Once you have finished making changes, click the Save button (green, top right of the Table Builder).
- Your changes will be applied immediately and reflected across all views and forms associated with this table.
