Deleting a table is one of the most consequential actions an admin can take in TrackVia. This article explains what deletion actually removes, what to check first, and safer alternatives.
Note: You must have Admin permissions to delete a table.
What Gets Deleted
Deleting a table permanently removes:
- All records and data stored in the table, including files uploaded to Image, Document, and Attachments fields
- All views, forms, and filters built on the table
- All relationships the table has with other tables, severing the record links on the related tables
Warning — Cross-App Connect: If the table is shared with other applications via Cross-App Connect, deleting it from one app deletes it from every connected app. To remove it from a single app only, disconnect it instead — see How to share data between Applications with Cross-App Connect.
Before You Delete: A Checklist
- Export the data. Download the table's records from a view export so you have a copy.
- Back up the account. Consider taking an account backup first — see How to Backup and Restore Your Account.
- Check for relationships. Open the Table Relationships editor and note which tables link to this one; those links will be severed.
-
Check Cross-App Connect status. Confirm whether the table is shared with other apps (shared tables display an icon next to the table's name in the Tables drop down, and in the Table Relationships editor).
- Check dependent resources. Review dashboards, Flows, scripts, and integrations that use this table.
How to Delete a Table
- Open the app containing the table.
- Navigate to the App Overview tab in the Navigation bar at the top of the screen and select "App Overview"
- Select the delete option (trash can icon) for the table.
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone from within the application. If a table is deleted in error, contact TrackVia Support immediately.
Safer Alternatives to Deleting
Archive with a status field. If you want records out of the way but not gone, add a "Status" or "Archived" checkbox/drop-down field and filter your working views to exclude archived records.
Restrict access instead. Remove the table's views and forms from all roles so end users can no longer see it, while the data remains intact for admins.
Move it to another app. Use Cross-App Connect to relocate the table rather than deleting and rebuilding it — see the Pro Tip in Cross-App Connect.
Test in a sandbox. If you're restructuring an app, delete and rebuild in a sandbox first.
