What types of files can I import?
There are two types of files that can be imported into TrackVia: .xlsx and .csv. It’s also possible to copy and paste data into the import wizard, as long as it’s in a comma or tab separated format. If you need more flexibility on how you import data into the system, check out one of our integration options.
How long is the import going to take?
This is dependent on many factors and is difficult to predict. For the most part, imports complete rather quickly (within a couple minutes). However, it’s possible that importing can take much longer, based on the following factors:
- Number of records in the file
- Number of columns in the file
- App scripts that will run when a record is added or updated
- Number of triggered fields that will run when a record is added or updated
How will I know when the import is finished?
If you stay on the import screen while the import is running, you will be notified in the application that it has completed. If you leave the import screen while the import is running, then you will receive an email when the import has completed. The email will contain the error report, if there were any errors.
Who can import data?
Only admin users can import data into tables.
I need to update the records in a table via import but the record ID is not unique. What should I do?
The best way to handle this scenario is to temporarily adjust the record ID of the table to something more unique. An auto counter field is a good option. After the import finishes, you can change the record ID back to the original setting.
How do I stop an import that is currently running?
If you need to stop an import that is currently running, please contact the TrackVia Support team for assistance.
How many imports can I have running at once?
There can only be one import running in your account at a time. This is a safeguard that we have in place to ensure your data integrity and application performance.
Is there a max number of rows or columns that can be imported at once?
There is no maximum number of rows or columns that can be imported into a table, as long as the file size is under the maximum limit (40 MB).
Is there a limit to the size of the import file?
The import file cannot be larger than 40 MB. If your file is larger, try breaking it up into smaller files and running multiple imports.
