Hello Admins! Views are one of the most powerful tools in TrackVia. Today's Pro Tips will help you maximize their potential.
1. Choose the Right View or Chart Type
TrackVia offers various Views and Chart Types, each tailored for specific data needs. Use the following resources to find the best fit for your business:
- Chart & View Types Overview: A quick guide to each option.
- How to Choose the Right Chart: Details on which chart types work best for different use cases.
Ask yourself the following questions from the "How to Choose the Right Chart" article to find the right chart for your data:
- Are you showing a composition, relationship, or comparison?
- How many categories do you need to display? Some charts can appear too cluttered to be useful if they include too many categories.
- Do you need exact values, or is a high-level trend enough?
- Is your data static, or do you want to show changes over time?
2. Optimize View Performance
More data means longer load times. To keep Views fast, try these tips:
🚫 Avoid Default Views: Create custom Views with only the necessary fields.
👍Use Filters: Limit the number of records to reduce load time.
⬇️ Limit Calculated Fields: Complex calculations can slow down load times, especially with large datasets.
3. Know View Limitations
Some View Types have limitations on how much data they can display. One of the most commonly encountered View limitations affect Timeline | Calendar Views, and Map Views, which will only display the first 1,000 records from the Grid View that was converted into the Timeline, Calendar, or Map.
Workarounds:
- Filter Records: Apply additional filters until fewer than 1,000 records appear in the View.
- Split-up Large Views: Break large Views into smaller ones (e.g., instead of showing all "2025 Projects," create separate views for each Quarter).
