Non-Stacked Column Charts

Non-Stacked Column Charts are one of the most commonly used chart typed. In Non-Stacked Column Charts individual categories are represented by separate vertical columns placed side-by-side to allow for direct comparison of their exact values.

When to Use a Non-Stacked Column Chart

• If the number of categories you are comparing is relatively small (~5-7)
• To show value changes over a period of time for a single category (e.g. projects completed each month).
• When you need to easily see which category has the highest or lowest value

When to Avoid Using a Non-Stacked Column Chart

• If you want to show how different components contribute to a total value within each category, a Stacked Column Chart is more suitable.
• If you are comparing a large number of categories (7+)

Example Use Cases for Non-Stacked Column Charts

1. Comparing the number of projects a team has completed in each Quarter
2. Comparing sales numbers of various product lines
