Grouped Views

What a Grouped View Is

A grouped view is a view that sorts records into collapsible sections based on the value of one field. Instead of a single flat list, you see a heading for each distinct value in that field, with the matching records nested underneath it.

In the example below, if you group a list of asset maintenance orders by Status, you get one section for "Temporary Hold", one for "Active", and one displaying the total. Each section holds only the records with that status. The records themselves do not change. Grouping only changes how they are arranged on screen.

This is the difference between grouping and filtering: a filter removes records from the view. Grouping keeps every record and organizes them. If your view of asset maintenance orders shows 20 records, grouping it by Status still shows all 20, just divided into labeled sections.

How Grouping Behaves

The group field. You choose one field to group by. Every distinct value in that field becomes a section heading. Records with no value in that field collect into their own section.
